Method 1: Fix your computer using Windows Media

This method positively scans and fixes many problems. It can work with Windows automatically.

• Start your system.

• After your OS starts running, insert Windows 10 installation media on CD or DVD ROM/USB or Recovery disk.

• Launch the disk to get the setup screen.

• Afteryour operating system gets Restarted along with your setting up media on the device. A black screen that contains: ‘Press any key to boot from CD or DVD’ gets displayed. 

• Proceed by pressing any key on your keyboard.

• You have to set the correct timing and keyboard layout in the upcoming screen.

• On the Windows system screen, click Next.

• Click Repair your computer which is the button on the bottom left of the screen.

• Now you can see “Choose an option” window on your screen.

• Select the option “Troubleshoot”.

• Under that menu choose Advanced option setting.

• A new window gets open under that choose Automatic Repair.

• In new window select the OS which you are using.

• You need to start the Windows 10 scanning process and fix any errors that can be shown on your computer’s error code 0xc0000185.

• Once the procedure is complete, remove Windows 10 launching media disk and reboot your device normally.

Method 2: Microsoft’s official response ( boot configuration file)

Generally, Windows 10 installation media can solve these issues. You have to do with DVD or USB flash drive. Reboot your computer to insert the media DVD or USB flash drive which you want to install Windows 10. Follow the below steps then.

• Reinsert your Windows 10 installation media disk such as DVD or USB and restart your operating system.

• Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.

• Select the correct time and keyboard type like which you did before.

• Repair your computer by using the “Repair Your Computer” button on the bottom left of the screen.
• Select “Choose an option” and then choose “Troubleshoot” option.
• Now from the following menu choose “Advanced options”.

• Click on the “Command Prompt” option. Then type the following commands in it.

             bootrec /fixMBR

              bootrec /fixBoot

              bootrec /rebuildBCD

Method 3:  Restore to previous

Take a backup of your files before proceeding this steps. If you do not do this some data may lose.

• Another time insert Windows 10 installation media disk and restart your OS.

• Press any key to boot.

• Now like usual way, select the correct time and keyboard type like which you did before.

• Choose the option “Repair Your Computer” button on the bottom left of the screen.
• Go to “Choose an option” and then “Troubleshoot” option.
• Choose “Advanced options” from the below menu.
• Finally, choose “System Restore” button to restore the system.

Method 4: Repair Equipment

This error may be caused by a device which associates with your computer or fault with one of the important components in it. That may be an important component of the startup, Mainly Windows from the startup.

• To check that the problem occurs with your tools, disconnect all that is connected to your computer, with your mouse and the keyboard. Booting the system causes one of your external devices to cause problems.

• Sometimes internal hard drives like your hard drive can prevent the computer from booting, which is incorrect. Make sure someone who is looking for it on an incorrect HDD and takes your computer in right way.

Method 5: Scan your Hard Disk for Error

You can use this scanning method both in laptop and PC.

• Go to Command prompt and open it via Administrator option. The following key combination will achieve this

Win + X key and click “Command Prompt.”

• Type chkdsk /R in CMD and Enter it.

This command will scan your hard disk error and Fix it automatically. Restart the system and check for the error whether it exists or not.

Method 6: Check the cable connection

Note :  This method is only for PC not for Laptop

Sometimes small issue in cable connection can also cause this error.

• Open the CPU and check whether the cable which connects hard disk and Computer is in a proper way. And also check whether the cable gets any damages. If it so then changes the cable or connects it in the proper way to fix this issue.
• Also, check with expansion cards, PSU, and memory are placed in proper place.

Method 7: Apply PC Refresh feature

Note :  This method is for Windows 8  and 8 Plus versions.

• Insert Windows 8 installation media disk.
• Restart your OS.
• Boot it and go to the Windows Setup screen.
• Click Next, and Choose the option “Repair Your Computer” button on the bottom left of the screen.
• Then select “Choose an option” and under that choose “Troubleshoot” option.
• Choose “Advanced options” from the below menu.
• Then at last Refresh your PC.

This will refresh your PC.
